How to use the Mood tracker in Left

Mood gives you a private place to record how you feel now or how your day felt overall. Entries use Apple's State of Mind format and stay in Apple Health, where you control access.

Requirements and Apple Health access

Mood requires iOS 26 or later and Left Premium. The first time you use it, allow Left to read and write State of Mind in Apple Health. If access was denied, open the Health app or iOS Settings to change the permission.

Log how you feel

Choose Now for a momentary feeling or Today for an overall daily mood. Move across the five levels from very unpleasant to very pleasant, then save the level that best matches how you feel.

You can choose another day when adding or reviewing a daily entry. Left keeps momentary entries ordered by time and keeps the daily view tied to the selected calendar day.

Add emotions and context

After selecting a mood, add related emotions and associations such as health, work, family, friends, weather, money, travel, or another part of life. These details use the same State of Mind fields supported by Apple Health.

Review Mood history

Open Mood history to review days, months, ranges, and patterns from your Apple Health entries. If an entry is wrong, select it to update its details or remove it from Apple Health.

Where Mood data is stored

Apple Health is the source of truth for personal Mood data. Left does not create a second cloud copy of your Health history. A small, bounded snapshot can be kept in the shared app container so the Mood widget can display recent information on your device.

Apple Health access is separate from World Mood sharing. Turning on the globe does not upload your Health history, and only moods logged inside Left can be shared anonymously when you explicitly opt in.

Keep Mood visible with a widget

Add the Mood widget to keep recent State of Mind history visible without opening the app. The widget reads the limited on-device snapshot, not a separate online mood profile.
