How to add a Left widget on your iPad Lock Screen
iPad Lock Screen widgets (available in iPadOS 16 and later) let you see your Left countdowns the moment you wake your iPad — no unlock required.
Step 1 — Create your event in Left
- Open Left on your iPad.
- Tap + to create a new event, or edit an existing one.
- Set the name, date, and display style (countdown, since, or percentage).
- Tap Save.
Step 2 — Enter Lock Screen customisation mode
- Wake your iPad and go to the Lock Screen (do not unlock).
- Long-press on the Lock Screen until the Customise button appears at the bottom.
- Tap Customise, then select Lock Screen (the left panel).
Step 3 — Add a Left widget
- Tap the widget area below the date/clock to open the widget picker.
- Search for or scroll to "Left".
- Tap a Left widget to add it to the Lock Screen strip.
- Tap Done when finished.
Step 4 — Select which event to display
- Long-press the Lock Screen again and tap Customise.
- Tap the Left widget to open its settings.
- Choose the event you want to show, or leave it on Smart for automatic selection.
- Tap Done.
Requirements
iPad Lock Screen widgets require iPadOS 16 or later. Compatible iPad models include all iPads that support iPadOS 16 (iPad 5th generation and later, iPad mini 5th generation and later, iPad Air 3rd generation and later, all iPad Pro models from 2017 onward).
Tip: multiple Lock Screen profiles
iPadOS supports multiple Lock Screen profiles, each with its own wallpaper and widget set. You can create a work-focused Lock Screen with a deadline countdown and a personal Lock Screen with an upcoming holiday — and switch between them from the Lock Screen long-press menu.
