How to make Left widgets transparent

Left is designed to live outside the app as much as inside it. The Home Screen, Lock Screen, and StandBy widgets let you keep your time left, upcoming dates, habits, and streaks visible without opening Left every time you want to check them. On iPhone, widget transparency is controlled by iOS, not by a setting inside Left — so the flow is: add the Left widget, enter Home Screen editing mode, then switch the widget appearance to Clear.

Step 1 — Add a Left widget

Start by adding the Left widget you want to use.

  1. Long press an empty area of your iPhone Home Screen.
  2. Tap the + button.
  3. Search for Left.
  4. Choose the widget you want and add it to your Home Screen.
  5. Place it where you want it to appear.

The transparent style is controlled by iOS, so the widget needs to be on the Home Screen before you customize its appearance.

Step 2 — Enter jiggle mode

Once the widget is on your Home Screen:

  1. Long press the Home Screen again.
  2. Wait until the apps and widgets start moving.
  3. Stay on this screen. This is the same mode you use to move or remove apps and widgets.

Step 3 — Change widgets to Clear

At the top of the screen:

  1. Tap Edit.
  2. Tap Customize.
  3. Choose Clear.
  4. Tap outside the customization panel or finish editing when you are done.

Your Left widgets should now use the clear Home Screen style, so they sit more naturally over your wallpaper.
