How aim works in Left
Aim is the part of Since for goals you can measure with a number. Use it to save money, read books, run distance, study hours, reduce debt, lose weight, finish a workload, or track any custom target that matters to you.
What aim is for
Use aim when the question is "how much?" instead of "how often?" or "how long since?" Each aim has a name, icon, color, photo, unit, target number, start date, and optional deadline.
Good examples include saving money, reading books, running kilometers, studying hours, donating money, writing words, paying down debt, reducing screen time, or finishing a remaining workload.
Count up and count down goals
Choose a count up aim when progress grows over time, such as saving money, reading books, running distance, or studying hours.
Choose a count down aim when you want a number to move lower, such as reducing debt, losing weight, cutting screen time, or clearing a remaining balance.
Create an aim
- Open Since.
- Tap +.
- Choose aim, or start from an aim template.
- Choose whether the goal counts up or counts down.
- Set the unit, target or starting number, default log amount, and optional deadline.
Log progress
You can log progress with a quick tap using the default step size, or enter a custom amount manually. For example, one tap can add one book, ten kilometers, fifty dollars, or any amount you choose.
For count up aims, logging adds progress. For count down aims, logging reduces the remaining amount.
Correct mistakes
If you log the wrong amount, you can correct it by subtracting progress, adding progress back, or undoing a recent entry where available. Aim keeps a progress history so you can see what changed and when.
Targets, deadlines, and status
When an aim has a target, Left shows the current amount, amount left, percentage complete, number of entries, created date, and deadline if one exists.
If you add a deadline, aim can help you understand whether the goal is on track, ahead, behind, past due, or complete.
Widgets, Apple Watch, sharing, archive, and restart
Aim can appear in Left widgets so your current number, target, percentage, symbol, photo, and progress bar stay visible outside the app.
On Apple Watch, you can view active and completed aims, log progress, unlog progress, and check details from your wrist. You can also share an aim as a visual card, archive aims you no longer want visible, or restart an aim for a fresh challenge.
