What date does a given percentage fall on?

How year percentage is calculated

The calculator divides the number of seconds elapsed since January 1st at 00:00:00 by the total number of seconds in the current year (365 × 86,400 for a normal year; 366 × 86,400 for a leap year). The result is multiplied by 100 to give a percentage.

Because the calculation is time-based rather than day-based, the percentage advances smoothly throughout the day — not just at midnight.

The reverse lookup

Enter any percentage in the field above to find the exact date that percentage falls on. For example, entering 50 will tell you the exact midpoint of the year (July 2nd in a non-leap year; July 2nd in a leap year too, as there are an odd number of seconds).

Year progress on your iPhone

Left's year-progress widgets display this exact percentage on your Home Screen or Lock Screen. You can choose from a bar, a ring, a dot grid, or a plain number — so there's a style for every Home Screen layout. The widget updates automatically throughout the day without you having to open the app.

This was one of the features that got Left featured as App of the Day. Seeing 73% of your year ticked away — right on your Lock Screen — is a quiet but powerful reminder to make the rest count.
