7 Best Widgetsmith Alternatives for iPhone in 2026
Checked 20 October 2026. Every competitor detail below comes from that app's US App Store page and Apple's public lookup data, fetched that day, plus Widgetsmith's own website where we say so. Left details come from the app itself.
Widgetsmith is one of the most popular widget apps on the iPhone, with 4.6 stars from 776,423 ratings on the US App Store. It's a general-purpose widget designer: photos, clocks, dates, countdowns, weather, tides, activity and more. People look for an alternative for different reasons. Some want widgets that do one job better, such as time and countdowns. Some want full themes with icons and wallpapers, a layer-by-layer editor, or an Apple Watch app. Here are seven alternatives and when each one makes sense.
Disclosure: we make Left, so we have put it first. Here is why, and when another app suits you better.

Quick verdict
- Best alternative for time, date and countdown widgets: Left.
- Best for designing your own widgets from scratch: Widgy Widgets.
- Best for a full aesthetic makeover from one theme library: Color Widgets.
- Best for photo widgets and countdowns, with Apple Watch faces: Photo Widget: Theme Wallpapers.
- Best for Dynamic Island effects and interactive extras: iScreen.
- Best for ready-made themes that include StandBy: Themify.
- Best for launching apps and contacts from widgets: Launcher with Multiple Widgets.
What Widgetsmith does well
By Cross Forward Consulting, LLC. Its App Store page lists photo and photo gallery widgets, customizable date and time clocks, activity and step counting, countdown timers, solar and lunar trackers, weather, a time zone tracker and action widgets that launch apps or run Shortcuts. You can schedule a different widget for different times of day, and customize the Lock Screen too.
- Price: free to download, with an optional Widgetsmith Premium subscription, billed monthly or annually. The listing says weather and tide data is only available to Premium subscribers. Widgetsmith's website adds interactive widgets, premium themes and fonts, custom app icons and an ad-free experience to Premium, with a 7-day free trial.
- Platforms: iPhone, iPad, Apple silicon Macs and Apple Vision. Apple Watch isn't in the listing's compatibility section; the same developer makes a separate watch app, Watchsmith.
If you use Widgetsmith for weather, tides and photos and you're happy with it, there may be no reason to switch. The alternatives below each do one part of that job differently.

1. Left: widgets built for time
Left is a time awareness app for iPhone, and its widgets are its main surface. If what you built in Widgetsmith was mostly clocks, dates and countdowns, Left gives you dedicated versions of each.
- Time progress: the Year widget shows what's left as a grid of symbols with the amount or percentage left, with 14 symbols, light, dark, black or colored backgrounds, and units from days to minutes; Month, Week and Day widgets do the same for shorter spans. The Everything widget shows day, week, month and year progress together, and the Life widget shows your life in years.
- Countdowns: the Ahead widget shows one date with a photo, a percentage or a grid of symbols. Ahead Bars and Ahead Circle show progress toward a date, and the Time Ahead list shows up to 7 dates.
- Habits and streaks: the Habit widget is interactive, so you tap today's symbol to log it. Streak, Streaks list, Aim and Aims list widgets cover the rest.
- Clocks and notes: Digital Clock, Analog Clock, Dynamic Time, Calendar, and a Special note widget for up to 500 characters of text.
- Lock Screen and StandBy: many of these come in circular, rectangular or inline Lock Screen versions, and they work in StandBy.
- Beyond widgets: Live Activities for countdowns and habits on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island, and Left Wallpaper, a Lock Screen wallpaper of your year, month or life that updates itself every day through Shortcuts.
Best for: anyone whose Home Screen is really about time: what's coming up, how much of the year is left, and which habits are on track.
Price: free to download, and the widgets are free, apart from the Planner and Fasting widgets, which belong to Left Premium features. The free plan includes 2 each of countdowns, habits, streaks and Aims, counted over everything you've ever created. Left Premium, a subscription or lifetime purchase, unlocks unlimited items, Planner, fasting and more. Prices are shown in the app before you buy.
Pros: dozens of time-focused widgets at no cost; Lock Screen versions of many; an interactive habit widget; Live Activities; a self-updating wallpaper.
Cons: not a free-form widget designer, so there's no layer editor, photo gallery widget, app icon themes or tides; weather only appears inside Planner, which is Premium; only 2 free countdowns; iPhone only, with iOS 26 or later; no Apple Watch app.
2. Widgy Widgets
By Woodsign. Its App Store page describes a layered editor for text, photos, symbols, shapes, charts and gauges, with clocks, weather, calendars, countdowns, reminders and activity data, plus community designs, shared by QR code, link or file.
Best for: power users who want to design every pixel of a widget.
Price: free to try. Optional in-app purchases unlock more widget slots (Home Screen, Lock Screen, Apple Watch and XL) and tips.
Pros: Home Screen, Lock Screen and Apple Watch widgets; Live Activities and Dynamic Island layouts on supported devices; privacy label says Data Not Collected; iCloud sync of widget libraries.
Cons: a blank-canvas editor means more setup than a template app; the listing doesn't say whether the slot purchases are one-time or recurring.
3. Color Widgets
By Digital Charms, Inc. Its App Store page lists thousands of predesigned widgets plus a customizer, with photo, time and date, battery, countdown, weather, music, calendar, quote, activity and moon phase widgets, alongside more than 15,000 themes and wallpapers, plus icon packs.
Best for: a complete aesthetic Home Screen from one library.
Price: free, with an optional Color Widgets Pro subscription that starts with a 3-day free trial.
Pros: a huge design library; Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets; Apple Health activity widgets; recent support for iOS 27's extra-large widget size.
Cons: the listing doesn't say what the free version includes; its privacy label lists identifiers used to track you.
4. Photo Widget: Theme Wallpapers
By Photo Widget Inc. Its App Store page lists photo, D-Day countdown, quote, calendar, clock, memo, to-do and shortcut widgets on the Home Screen, and many of the same on the Lock Screen. The D-Day widget has reminders and a date calculator.
Best for: photo-first widgets with countdowns, if you also want something on an Apple Watch face.
Price: free, with monthly or annual subscriptions, plus separate theme and item purchases.
Pros: listed for Apple Watch (watchOS 9 or later), iPad and Apple silicon Macs; themes, app icons and an AI wallpaper generator.
Cons: free limits aren't stated; its privacy label lists usage data used to track you.
5. iScreen - Widgets & Wallpaper
By Xiamen ShenZhuo Information Technology Co., Ltd. Its App Store page lists Liquid Glass widgets and themes, an iOS 27 extra-large widget, interactive widgets such as to-do check-ins and games, Dynamic Island features, Control Center customization, couple widgets and DIY wallpapers.
Best for: people who want the most going on: Dynamic Island effects, charging animations and interactive extras.
Price: free, with weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly VIP subscriptions or a Permanent VIP purchase.
Pros: 4.7 from 153,086 ratings; a very wide feature set; updated in October 2026.
Cons: ten VIP purchase options to compare, four of them monthly; Mac and Apple Watch aren't listed; its privacy label lists identifiers used to track you.
6. Themify - Widget & Icon Themes
By AIBY Incorporated. Its App Store page lists thousands of themes, widgets, icon packs, wallpapers and Lock Screen themes, a widget maker for steps, sleep, water, weather, clocks, calendars, photos and quotes, and widgets for the Home Screen, Lock Screen and StandBy.
Best for: applying a matching wallpaper, widget set and icons in one go.
Price: free, with a Premium subscription.
Pros: its description names StandBy widgets alongside Home Screen and Lock Screen ones; Apple Health sync for steps, sleep, water and activity; extra-large widgets for iOS 27.
Cons: listed for iPhone only; its privacy label lists several data types used to track you and linked to you, including location.
7. Launcher with Multiple Widgets
By Cromulent Labs, Inc. Its App Store page describes widgets that launch apps, contacts and actions from the Home Screen, the Lock Screen, the Dynamic Island and Apple Watch, with a Quick Widget for iOS 27.
Best for: people who used Widgetsmith's action widgets and want shortcuts first, decoration second.
Price: free, with Pro, Premium and yearly options in its in-app purchases.
Pros: around since 2014 and still updated; Apple Watch support; a Live Activity launcher in the Dynamic Island.
Cons: it's a launcher, not a widget designer, so photos, weather and themes aren't the point; fewer ratings than the theme apps.
How we chose
- Starting point: we looked at the apps most often named as Widgetsmith alternatives and searched the US App Store for widget makers on 20 October 2026.
- Kept: apps updated in the last few months that replace at least one of Widgetsmith's main jobs: designing widgets, theming the Home Screen, photos, countdowns or actions.
- Left out: apps not updated in over a year, apps with only a handful of ratings, and social widget apps for couples and friends, which do a different job.
- Sources: each app's own App Store page and Apple's lookup data, and Widgetsmith's website for its Premium details. No paid placements, and no developer reviewed this page.
Which one should you pick?
