How many days until Easter?
Live countdown to Easter Sunday — Western (Gregorian) and Orthodox. Includes the exact date for this year and next.
How Easter's date is calculated
Easter Sunday doesn't have a fixed calendar date — it's computed each year based on the first full moon after the spring equinox (March 21st). Western Christianity uses the Gregorian calendar; Eastern Orthodox churches use the Julian calendar, which now runs 13 days behind the Gregorian calendar.
This tool uses the Meeus–Jones–Butcher algorithm for Western Easter and the Julian-based algorithm (converted to the Gregorian calendar) for Orthodox Easter. Both are accurate for years 2000–2100.
Western vs Orthodox Easter
In most years, Western and Orthodox Easter fall on different Sundays — sometimes just one week apart, sometimes up to five weeks apart. In some years (such as 2025 and 2028) they coincide on the same date.
