6 Best HabitKit Alternatives for iPhone in 2026
Checked 20 October 2026. Every competitor detail below comes from that app's US App Store page and Apple's public lookup data, fetched that day. Left details come from the app itself.
HabitKit is a habit tracker built around a grid of colored tiles, "like a contribution graph": every day you show up, another tile fills in. It has 4.8 stars from 2,492 ratings on the US App Store. Reasons you might look elsewhere: Home Screen widgets without paying, an Apple Watch app, Lock Screen widgets, or more than four free habits. Here are six alternatives, including the closest lookalike.
Disclosure: we make Left, so we have put it first. Here is why, and when another app suits you better.

What HabitKit does well
By Sebastian Roehl. Its App Store page describes a tile grid per habit with Classic, Compact and Split dashboard views, build or quit habits, counts and custom units, flexible schedules, streak goals and notes on any day. It needs no account, keeps data on your device and works offline; recent release notes add a daily iCloud backup and free export and import.
- Price: "HabitKit is free to use with up to four habits, including streaks, statistics, notes, and reminders." HabitKit Pro, monthly, yearly or lifetime, unlocks unlimited habits, Home Screen widgets, restoring archived habits and more reminders per habit.
- Platforms: iPhone, Apple silicon Macs and Vision Pro. Apple Watch and iPad aren't in its compatibility list.
If the tile grid motivates you and four habits is enough, HabitKit is a great app. For a direct comparison with Left, see HabitKit vs Left.

1. Left: habits you can log from the Home Screen, for free
Left is a time awareness app for iPhone. Habits, streaks and Aims live in Since, next to countdowns in Ahead and year and life progress in Time Left.
- Your own grid: each habit has a completion grid, with days completed, days missed, longest streak and habit strength.
- Habits: a goal per day, week or month and how many times, on every day, weekdays, weekends, specific days or a number of days per week, with up to 4 reminders per habit.
- Free widgets: the Habit widget is interactive, so you tap today's symbol to log it from the Home Screen, and it also works as a rectangular Lock Screen widget. The Habits list widget shows 4 or 8 habits on the Home Screen and also comes in Lock Screen sizes.
- Live Activity nudge: Get a persistent reminder shows a Live Activity an hour before a time you choose if the habit isn't logged yet.
- Quitting: use a streak instead of a habit. It counts up from Started on... and keeps your restarts, average streak and longest streak.
- Left Premium extras: unlimited habits, Apple Health tracking that completes a habit when you meet the goal, and friends who can follow your habits for accountability.
Best for: people who want habit widgets on the Home Screen and Lock Screen without paying, and like seeing habits next to countdowns and the time left in the year.
Price: free to download. The free plan includes 2 habits, 2 streaks, 2 Aims and 2 countdowns, counted over everything you've ever created, so deleting one doesn't free a slot. Left Premium is a subscription or lifetime purchase. Prices are shown in the app before you buy.
Pros: habit widgets are free, including the Lock Screen; one-tap logging from the Habit widget; a habit Live Activity; countdowns and time left views in the same app.
Cons: fewer free habits than HabitKit (2 against 4); amounts with a unit, like liters or kilometers, are tracked as separate Aims rather than inside a habit; needs an iPhone with iOS 26 or later.
