How to Add Widgets on iPhone, iPad, Lock Screen, and StandBy
iOS has four places you can put a widget: Home Screen, Lock Screen, StandBy, and iPad. The steps are similar but not identical. Here's the full path for each, using Left as the example.
Home Screen (iPhone)
1. Enter jiggle mode
Go to your Home Screen. Press and hold anywhere on the screen until your apps start to jiggle.
2. Add widget
Tap the Edit button in the top-left corner, then tap Add Widget. Search for Left in the widget gallery.
3. Choose your widget
Swipe through the available Left widgets. Pick the one you like most and tap Add Widget.
4. Customize it
Tap the widget while still in jiggle mode and change colors, symbols, content, and more.

Lock Screen
- Touch and hold the Lock Screen.
- Tap Customize at the bottom → choose Lock Screen.
- Tap a widget area (above or below the clock).
- Pick Left from the list of apps.
- Choose the widget you want.
Lock Screen widgets are smaller and monochrome by design. Left's Lock Screen variants are tuned for that — bars, rings, and short text.
StandBy
StandBy mode kicks in when you charge your iPhone on its side. To add Left widgets:
- Put your iPhone on a charger horizontally so StandBy activates.
- Touch and hold one of the widget panels.
- Tap +, search for Left, and add the widget.
iPad
Identical to iPhone Home Screen — touch and hold, tap +, search, add. The widgets render at their larger sizes by default.
Editing or removing
Long-press any widget. You'll see Edit Widget (re-configure it) and Remove Widget (delete it from the screen).
Troubleshooting
If Left doesn't appear in the widget list, open the app once, update iOS and Left to the latest version, and restart the device. More tips on the support page.
